Another change is parenthood
Your role is not the same
You're not the children anymore
Not everything's a game
Has the magic disappeared
Has it all gone away?
Perhaps the children know it best
the meaning of the day.
Jackson! Did you pack your suitcase?
Yeah! I packed!
Did you pack anything other than toys?
And… is this Halloween candy?
Don’t you think you might want some clothes?
But the bag’s already full! Where will they go?
We all have to make some sacrifices in life, kid.
Candy or toys… the choice is yours.
That’s not fair!
Life’s not fair.
Somedays I wonder how i even got here.
Going head to head and toe to toe
Feeling like I’m practically joining the new frontier
All ‘cause i’m making deals with my 7 year old
I wasn't ready, then boom, I was a beach ball
We traded \"Chad\" and \"Dawn\" for \"dad\" and \"mom\"
Wasn’t it a couple years ago we were small?
And now the blind lead the blind, it’s an awful sitcom
We’re just kids raising kids
Let’s be kids together
When will Santa bring something just for me?
Maybe 'cause you were bad
Now, don’t you be clever
But he’s got something for me, I guarantee!
'Cause I’m a kid
You’re my kid
Let’s be kids together
But then who’s gonna set up the Christmas tree?
When did I stop wanting Easy-Bake Ovens,
and just want a new oven?
Write Santa a letter
and you’ll see!
Sometimes I wonder how she’s even my mom
It’s always \"\"clean your room\"\" and mops and brooms
I just wish that mom knew it's fine sometimes to have fun
and that she’d let me wear my Batman costume
If my bike fit inside my bag I'd bring it
Who needs Gonch and socks, not Lego blocks?
Why can’t moms understand and think like a kid?
And if Christmas ain’t the time then i don’t know when is!
I’m a kid, just a kid
Let’s be kids together
I can’t just be a kid when there’s laundry
Maybe Santa could help
Wouldn’t that be better
But I’m sure he’s got more needy folks to see
But I’m a kid, he loves kids
If we’re kids together
then he’ll have to come visit on Christmas Eve!
I always wanted a Betty Spaghetti
Write Santa a letter
and you’ll see!
Being a mom is just pretending
You know these things that you’re inventing
And the tasks are never ending
We need to get out the door
Being a kid is realizing
that life can have more fantasizing
It’s Christmas time and you’re forgetting
that you have a mom too
You’re a kid
I’m a kid
And it’s Christmas morning
We can be kids together with our mommies!
Think the kid’s got a point
'Course I do, I’m clever
Even if, as a kid, you’ve got chores to do
I’m a kid
I’m a kid
Let's be kids together
while we spend Christmas day with our family
I’ve always wished for my own perfect baby
I got him
Mom, will I have to grow up one day?
We’ll just see
We’ll just see?
We’ll just see
