Like I had something to prove

For you to see it clearly

But the shadows always moved

Intent they seemed

To disprove all my theories

Or a lasting artifact

But then came the eclipse

How it multiplied them all

I couldn't fathom

The shadows of your lips

The shape they made

I couldn't have them

Now darkness lurks around

My works lying abandoned

I used to trace around the shadows

I used ink and paint and chalk

The evidence is everywhere

But i go past it

I no longer trace the shadows

No now I'd rather talk

Less on the shadow

More about the light

That casts it

Turned out to be the only

Thing that's lasted
