I made a spaceship out of cardboard tubes
Racing through the stars with my stickers and glue
Mom said dinner’s ready but I’m too far gone
Exploring galaxies in my velvet crayon
My dog’s a dragon breathing fire and smoke
Sidekick in the tales that we both provoke
We ride through jungles in the backyard wild
King of all the trees since I was a child
Hey I’m just a kid making magic in the dirt
Got no plans to grow up it’s the real world that can hurt
So I’ll keep on dreaming with my cape tied tight
Soaring ‘cross the moon every single night
Found a treasure map in an old lunchbox
Pirate ships await where the sidewalk stops
Digging up adventures with my plastic spade
Gold and jewels we claimed in the evening shade
Time moves fast like a rock skipping streams
But I’m holding tight to these homemade dreams
Soon I’ll be taller but for now I’m small
With imagination nothing’s too big or too small
Hey I’m just a kid making magic in the dirt
Got no plans to grow up it’s the real world that can hurt
So I’ll keep on dreaming with my cape tied tight
Soaring ‘cross the moon every single night
