Jackie and Ian started The Glaciers three years ago while they were playing with several different New York City bands at the time, including the indie-favorites The Mendoza Line. 
 
Ian ran a studio out of the basement of their home in Queens, and soon enough the couple started working on their own material down in the damp mess of instruments and mangled stuffed animals. What started out as a simple experiment later turned into a multilayered and textured sound. Friends came and went and added their instruments and melodies to multiple tracks. The songs began to capture a time and place of candlelit porches and late night sing-alongs, culminating onto magnetized tape. 
 
The Glaciers today have become a musical collective of sorts. There are many talented folks involved in the band and their live show has been known to rise to the challenge of their name, if not just by sheer number of musicians onstage. In addition to the traditional lineup of bass, drums, keyboard and guitars on any given night the band may include pedal steel, cello, violin and trumpet. Jackie and Ian are lucky enough to be joined by many notable musicians including members from The Essex Green, Hem, The Mendoza Line and Mercury Rev.
