New Age of Decay is a collaboration between musician The Slow Blade and writer NotAnotherPoet, two British artists who met in Beijing, China. The pair attempt to bring poetry and music together through their rhythmic and humorous compositions. The poems in the album tackle as day to daily frustrations as dating the wrong person (Nothing Much Worse) to the more public concerns of the ‘generational divide’ and disenfranchisement (Evergreen Everteens/The Zeds/TheLocals) to the more current concerns of society in the era of the global pandemic (Quarantine/The Year When it All Collapsed). The sound of their music on the other hand, though categorized ‘post-punk’, is highly diverse and lends from multiple influences. The true richness of the album comes from its musical versatility and openness to experimentation.
