March 2008 offered up a great opportunity for a small group of people, with a range of musical experiences and the same passion for hardcore music, to form a new and fresh sound to the Reading music scene.  
 
Freshly from the underground metal scene, ex-Viatrophy and 1000 Sins' Nick Brooks was out to spread an increasingly influential genre to the people who were lacking it from their local area. Recruiting ex-vocalist and ex-guitarist from a death metal band, Frankie Says Relax, Tom Johnstone and Adam Potter already provided the foundations for a professional approach to creating and emulating a live experience that is rare to come across. Thrown in with a mix of a highly skilled bassist (and local mosh master) Shaun Flanagan and an equally passionate and ambitious drummer, Kieran Dickson.  
 
With entirely extrovert members, BrokenJaws have a brilliant mentality to their own music as well as maintaining a friendly attitude to everyone they work with. And a brilliant musicianship among each other. With a truely spontaneous stage presence, which brings with it addictive rhythms from rumbling frequencies, fit to get even your grandma flailing her arms in the midst of it all, while invoking furious two-stepping with harmonic hostility.  
 
BrokenJaws mixes the old punk sound of early hardcore, which is not only familiar but well respected among hardcore fans, with the down-tuned chug and brutality of the more recent and fast growing hardcore style to create an energetic and exciting sound.  
 
Overall a well dosed supplement of the old and new music of hardcore which is inspirational, enjoyable and equally terrifying.  
 
Now with regular practices and a tight set, BrokenJaws want to bring their breakdowns and heavy riffs to whoever they can, across the board, to enlighten the existing fans of this genre and to hook in and open the eyes of those yet unknown to this energetic and passionate music.
