The band name - Poccolus - is derived from a name of an ancient Lithuanian-Prussian pagan mythological god of death, darkness and the underworld, Pikolas.
Poccolus was the first pagan black metal band in Lithuania. It was formed in Utena, Lithuania, in spring of 1993 when thrash/black metal band Nemesis had split-up to Nahash and Poccolus.
