Born and raised in Rochester NY, Dan Nordquist is a professional artist, multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and dedicated classical guitarist. “Alas” is his debut, all instruments played by himself. The album was also mixed by Dan, and mastered by Grammy-nominated audio engineer Kim Rosen.

“Alas” Features 8 tracks, two of them instrumental. The inspiration for creating the album was the quarantine that began in mid March 2020, although some of the tracks were skeletons a few years prior. The oldest track on the album, “Don’t You Waste It!” was first written in 2016 with a Fender Stratocaster and midi drums. This track was revisited, and layered synthesizers were added. The latest written track, “Had A Nice Decade” was written weeks before mastering. This was originally an instrumental, although lyrics were added representing the end of 2010-2019 and the start of a new decade.
