In April 2008 three ex-members of the legendary symphonic rock band Plackband decided to start a new group. Later, they were completed by Harry den Hartog. Since the first hour the band consists of • Michel van Wassem (keyboards, lead vocals) • Tom van der Meulen (drums) • Ronald Brautigam (guitars, vocals) • Harry den Hartog (bass guitars, vocals)
 
The versatility and fabulous skills of Harry come to full advantage in PBII. The former members of Plackband wanted to develop their recent change of musical direction further, which resulted in a new formation with the new name PBII. The new style of PBII is a mixture of modern progressive rock, jazz-rock and neo symphonic rock.
 
Influences of their former heroes Genesis and Yes are still observable, but the new sound is affected by bands like Frost* and Porcupine Tree.
 
“Impressive, surprising and dynamic” are remarks of people and professional press hearing the new material of PBII.
 
On January 23 the debut album Plastic Soup was released in de Boerderij (NL), with guest appearances by John Mitchell (Arena, Frost*, Kino, It Bites), John Jowitt (IQ, Frost*) and daughter of Denny (WINGS) Laine, Heidi Jo Hines. The national and international reviews of both the CD and the concert are excellent, even superlative.
 
The concert was recorded with 6 HD camera's, so ....!
 
The theme of the CD is hot in the media, therefore the band was able to be sponsored by the government and an environmental organization to make a professional video clip about the subject powered by IDTV. The clip is directed by Bram Kattenbroek and supervised by Jan Pool. So we can proudly announce that probably PBII is the first progressive rock band in the Netherlands with a real video clip.
 
At the end of 2010 the band welcomed to Mariska van der Krul as the 5th band member. Unfortunately it was only for a short period. In April 2011 Harry and Mariska left the band for musical reasons in relation to the new musical course of PBII.
 
Within a week the vacancy for Bass guitar player was filled in by another bass virtuoso Alex van Elswijk. Alex seemed to be not only a bass player but also a talented composer and arranger. This was perfect for the new album.
 
In may 2011 PBII participated in two different prog media shows in Holland with contributions to an anniversary DVD of iO Pages with the song ‘Book of Changes’ and on an anniversary CD of Progwereld named ProgNL with a Dutch version of the song ‘Plastic Soup.’
 
The new live DVD, titled PBII@Boerderij.org, will be officially launched on Saturday the 19th of November 2011 during a gig with Arena at the Boerderij.
