Flying Pan is a Malaysian based rock band formed in March 2011. The band members were originally acquainted from Japanese Events in Kuala Lumpur and decided to form the band based on their similar interests and passion for Japanese music.

Not long upon forming the band, the members has decided to take their music and interests seriously and competed in the first season of Passport to Fame: Battle of the Bands; one of the biggest national battle of the bands in Malaysia, just 2 months after their formation. With that, they have written their first original; “Hypocrisy”.

Albeit going through the competition at their best, Flying Pan only managed to go through to Quarter Finals and was eliminated from the competition. However, that did not stop the band from trying again. Flying Pan participated once again in Passport to Fame: Battle of the Bands Season 2 (2012) and their hard work has finally paid off by winning the place of 2nd Runner Up.

Aside from the competition, Flying Pan has also been actively performing in Japanese related events, as well as in the biggest local Japanese Rock concert called “Jrock no Tamashii”. The band has always been known and recognized as a local Jrock band and has been living with that reputation till today.

Alike the name “Flying Pan”, the band portrays a fun, bubbly and playful image. However, despite the image, Flying Pan has always surprised audiences with their music, which has always been the total opposite of their image.

Flying Pan’s music has always been dark, emo and heavy. And that has been the direction that Flying Pan decides to continue pursuing in their music.

As of 2013, the band has decided to go more serious in their music than ever before. One of the first steps of the band is being given the honor to be the Opening Band for HaKU Live in KL 2013, a Japanese Artist rock concert, which has by far been the biggest achievement for Flying Pan.

The band has released their first Indie Mini Album, entitled “Transition” on 1 November 2013 and plans to release their full album by 2014 under Warner Music Malaysia.
