Close Talker is an exciting, young, indie-rock band from Saskatoon, SK, who don’t pull any punches when demonstrating what can be achieved with the understated power of their four-piece. Their debut album, Timbers, has been applauded by the music press for its “mature songwriting,” its “broad palette of sonic novelties,” its “edgy vocals and gentle piano lines and orchestral ambition.” “Languid and luxurious", raved Saskatchewan biweekly Verb Magazine feature on the band, “Timbers sprawls across the sonic spectrum.” The band has drawn comparisons to other acts like, Local Natives and Half Moon Run.
Following the release of their debut EP, Timbers, in February of 2013 the band went on to become finalists in the national CBC Searchlight competition for Canada’s Best New Artist. They subsequently received substantial airplay across the nation, including spins on CBC R2’s The Drive. Their single “The West Was Won” spent seven weeks in the top 10 of CBC R3’s charts. Close Talker have performed at a number of notable festivals and showcases including Ness Creek, Gateway Festival, MOSO Fest, Ponderosa Festival, and the Regina Folk Fest where they showcased on the main stage to a capacity crowd directly before headliner Feist. The band also has a strong tour history, including dates with Royal Canoe and Library Voices.
In May of 2014, on the heels of an Eastern Canadian tour that includes a confirmed showcase at Canadian Music Week, Close Talker will record their follow up full length album with producer/engineer Jace Lasek (Stars, Patrick Watson, Wolf Parade) at Breakglass Studios in Montreal.
