The Czech Chamber Philharmonic was formed shortly after the 1989 “Velvet Revolution” which led to the birth of the Czech Republic. It was founded by the music agency B-Arts Production with Zdenek Adam, who is its artistic leader, soloist and first oboist.
Greatly in demand around Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, the Czech Chamber Philharmonic performs regularly in Austria, Switzerland and the Benelux Countries. In Germany it delights its many fans with several concerts every year with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Munich Philharmonic, as well as visiting Bremen, Hanover and other major cities. The orchestra has also appeared at London’s famous Barbican Centre.
In guest performances at international music events – among them, the Toulon Festival and the Festival Musique en Basque in France, the Dmitria Festival in Greece, and Germany’s Mitte Europa and Bruhler Schlosskonzerte - the orchestra has accompanied many top-flight soloists. To name just a few, trumpeters Rheinhold Friedrich (at Weilburger Schlosskonzerte) and Serget Nakarjakov (the Janacek May Festival), American saxophonist John E. Kelly (the Rheingau Musik Festival) and British singing star Sarah Brightman (Monaco) have all chosen to perform with the Czech Chamber Philharmonic.
At home in the Czech Republic the orchestra has recorded “The Christmas Concert from the Senate” for Czech Television, made many broadcasts on Radio Classic, and accompanied soprano Dagmar Peckova for the important “Mozart Gala” held in the Prague Conference Centre. Since the mid-2000s, the orchestra has presented an ongoing series of chamber concerts entitled “Thursdays with the Czech Chamber Philharmonic” in the city’s Crown Plaza Hotel – its concerts in the capital city are supported by the Prague municipal authority

Vojtech Spurny became principal conductor in 2004 and other noted Czech conductors – Jan Chalupecky, Petr Chromcak, Frantisek Drs, Stanislav Vavrinek and Petr Vronsky – have taken up the baton for guest performances. The roll-call of celebrated foreign conductors ranges from Hideaki Muto (Japan) to Michael Zukernik (Israel), together with the USA’s Francis Leger and Klaus Linkel from Germany.
The Czech Chamber Philharmonic has produced a collection of hugely successful CDs, a number of which have won coveted Gold Disc awards. These include: “A. Vivaldi: The Four Seasons”, “G.F. Handel: The Water Music, Suite No. 1”, “L. V. Beethoven: Symphonies No. 4 and No. 5”, and
“M. Mokoska: 3 Marimba Concertos”.
Also on the bestseller list are “Masters of the Czech Baroque and Classicism”, BMG3, and its equally exciting follow-up, “Masters of the Czech Baroque and Classicism II”, BMG4. Four further
CDs "Baroque Bohemia & beyond", enthusiastically received by critics and public alike and last two compiled exclusively from world premieres are now available both in the United Kingdom and in the Czech Republic.
A particularly remarkable CD is “Fireworks of Classic”, made with the cooperation of Japanese company Nishimura using the leading-edge technology, “one point recording g”. It has been re-issued with GZ Digital Media.
Bringing wider knowledge of Czech music to audiences in other countries, and enhancing their enjoyment of its stunning repertoire, are key elements of the musical mission of the4 Czech Chamber Philharmonic. Proud holder of “The World Prize of A. Dvorak” from the Masaryk Academy of Arts, the orchestra takes special pleasure in showcasing the finest soloists of the Czech
Republic, and violinists Bohuslav Matousek, Pavel Sporcl and Jaroslav Sveceny and the oboe virtuoso Jurij Likin all make frequent appearances with the orchestra.
