The beginning of Italian’s MOTUS TENEBRAE can be traced back to July 2001, when Luis McFadden (vocals and guitars) and Marko Giampaolini (guitars) joined Andreas Das Cox (bass) and Mauricio Tremolo (drums). Over the next months, Motus Tenebrae worked diligently on new material that eventually found its way to their first ep recorded in Syncropain. With the help of Elisa Rocci (female vocals) Beyond was created. It received excellent reviews worldwide, prompting the interest of several labels. The band started play live. However, no contract materialized. The months that followed were less productive for Motus Tenebrae. Nevertheless, rehearsals and new composition were still a part of the band’s agenda. The new material called for yet another addition to the band. Guitarist Franz Dima joined them, taking Marko Giampaolini’s place, who was forced to leave the band for personal reasons. It soon became clear that the members of Motus Tenebrae had conquered their niche, producing an atmospheric, powerful type of heavy gothic metal with a flair all its own. The positive feedback of the stage convinced the band that it was again time to tackle the studio. In april 2005, Motus Tenebrae entered in Syncropain studio to record Wayside, an album that dealt with the mystical wayside of darkness. On it, synth programs appearance. Fortunately, the recording, with a best production, was again up to Motus Tenebrae’s standards. Shortly after recording Wayside, Mauricio Tremolo split the band for Alex Reverend. While the band was experiencing line up changes, their album paved the final way out of the unknown and into the limelight. It received outstanding reviews and the band signed a long-waited record deal with New LM Records/Masterpiece Distribution. In 2005 and 2006 Motus Tenebrae headed for the stage. Their sound became faster and darker. The new material that ensued guided Motus Tenebrae in a different direction. Under the direction of Marco Ribecai, Motus Tenebrae entered studio in july 2007 to record Soul Expression with the new drummer Anton Chaney from Death SS band, the album tells about lonely human souls. It also contains a track of The Cult band called Rain and a guest appearance of female vocals JD (Giada Martelli) on few songs. Actually (2008/2009) MT are working on new concept-album titled "The Synthetic Bliss" at MarbleChair Studio. In october,november,december and genuary MOTUS TENEBRAE are writing and pre-recording about forthcoming album currently titled "DOUBLE BLACK" with a new singer.
In may 2012 the band signs a new contract deal with Revalve Records.
