I am a trumpet/Flugelhorn player, Composer, Arranger, and Teacher living and working as a pro musician in Chicago, Illinois.  I grew up in south suburban Midlothian and graduated from Oak Forest High School in Oak Forest, Illinois.
I received a B.A. in Trumpet Performance from Millikin University in Decatur, IL and an M.M. in Jazz Studies from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, Chicago, IL.
After finishing graduate studies, I began playing trumpet on cruise ships for several years.  Working on ships, I had the opportunity to play a wide variety of musical styles while traveling the world.  In an approximate five year period, I worked for Cunard Cruise line, Regent Seven Seas, Crystal Cruises, and Royal Caribbean Cruises.  During my time with Royal Caribbean, I spent a year and a half as musical director, in charge of over thirty musicians and scheduling for about a dozen venues onboard the Explorer of the Seas.
I currently reside solely in Chicago.  I play lead trumpet in the Michael Lerich Orchestra, Shout Section Big Band, Reverend John & the South Side All Stars, and whatever other groups will have me.  I’ve played a multitude of musical theater productions at many of Chicago’s Theaters, and I’ve recorded for various projects in many of the city’s numerous studios as well.  I’ve had the pleasure to play with the Rob Parton Big Band, Chicago Grand Stand Big Band, Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra, amongst many others.
In addition to playing wherever I can, I also teach lessons.  I teach trumpet and cornet lessons Hilda Walker Intermediate School, which is located in Tinley Park, Illinois.  I also maintain a studio of beginning piano students in the city.  My goals for my trumpet and piano students are the same: teach a solid foundation of the instrument while instilling a sense of joy in the music-making process.  I believe music to be a human celebration of life, and it is my goal to impart that to my students.
I also teach intermediate/advanced trumpet lessons out of my house in Lincoln Park.  In such lessons, we work on harmonic approach, conceptualization for utilizing the full range of the instrument, tone production, and interpretation of music.
