Mary beths musical influences began with the early folk music of the 70s including Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Kate Wolf, Jackson Browne, Judy Collins, Emmy Lou Harris, John Denver, Peter, Paul and Mary, Joan Baez, Gordon Lightfoot, as well as the Beatles. The show tunes of Broadway, and singer/songwriters including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Indigo Girls, Richard Thompson, David Wilcox, Shawn Colvin, Nanci Griffith, Patty Larkin, the voices of Alison Krauss, Eva Cassidy, Mary Black, Loreena McKennit, the Celtic music of the British Isles and the bluegrass music of Appalachia have helped to expand her influences.
