Mozart meet Metallica with an Armenian twist!
Based out of Los Angeles, Armenian Space Station is a dynamic, progressive instrumental rock band that formed out of the powerful musical collaboration between Greg Hosharian and Barrett Yeretsian.  Each song is a melodic, virtuosic and theatrical journey that is anything but predictable.
    "The best part about how our band formed is that we never planned on starting a band, it just happened naturally," says Hosharian, a classically trained pianist, composer, orchestrator and producer.  "We were working on music for TV/Film and one of the instrumental pieces took on a life of its own.  We kept adding to it until it became an 8-minute, epic musical statement."
 
    Yeretsian, a self-taught drummer, producer, songwriter and composer says, "There is something very rebellious about Armenian Space Station…in any given song, we can go from a beautifully serene Armenian folk section to the heaviest, most progressive music we've ever written or performed.  There is no hesitation to fully express ourselves." 
 
    As space is an ever-expanding entity, the music of Armenian Space Station strives to push the envelope, expanding beyond the boundaries that confine everyday popular music.   The music is at once a tribute to and a celebration of the resilience and strength of the Armenian spirit.
 
    "We officially 'launched' Armenian Space Station in Armenia in October, 2009 headlining the historic Cinema Moscow in front of 1,200 people.  I actually discovered my passion for music in Armenia in 1992 when I was taught how to play the dhol (Armenian hand drum) for a week by the head of the Armenian Dance Ensemble.  So for me, our debut show in Armenia somehow completed the circle," says Yeretsian.
 
    Hosharian's late father, Edward Hosharian, was a world-renowned conductor and composer who worked with the likes of Aram Khachaturian and Jivan Gasparyan.  "From a very young age, my father instilled in me a deep love for and appreciation of Armenian music and Armenian Space Station is a great creative expression of my love of Armenian music."
 
    After their debut concert in Yerevan, Armenian Space Station added Clint Feddersen on bass and Phil Trujeque on guitar.  Since then, the group has released a 4-song E.P., played a sold-out U.S. debut show at the Roxy, shot a music video for "Escape Velocity" (which was featured on Yahoo! Music) and has built a dedicated and rapidly growing fan base in the Los Angeles area.
 
    "One comment that we hear very often is that there is something very real and genuine about our band.  We're four good friends who are playing the music we want to play with absolutely no parameters or boundaries. We are looking forward to writing and producing our next set of songs, shooting another music video and continuing to perform the music we love to perform," says Yeretsian.
