He grew up in an Austrian mountain village, travelled half of the world and ended up in Friesland a Dutch province. To make a living he was a ski instructor, worked in steel construction industry and in between as a musician.
Singer-songwriter Falco Luneau has a colorful history and has become an inspired artist.
His life started as if it was taken out of a movie script. His Dutch mother met his Austrian ski instructor father on a ski holiday. They fell in love and started a family in the little mountain village of ‘Brand’.
'My family is very musical almost everyone plays an instrument, but because of our different taste in music we never played together in one group. Except for my brother Stefan, he was the singer of my first band. I played the drums but my brother wanted me to sing and introduced me as the lead singer'.
As a kid Falco loved Austrian "Alpen Rock", Yodelling and rock guitars...especially Hubert von Goisern.
When he grew older he traded Alpen Rock, for Metallica, Linkin Park and became a ski and snowboard instructor. In the evenings Falco entertained his guests with a jam session in the ski hut.
One day Falco decided to leave 'the safe area' and wanted to see the world. He played the streets of New York, Lisbon, London, Dublin.. went to Kongo, Angola..
Every culture had it's own music heroes. Falco played requests in hotels, clubs and learned to play different kinds of music genres.
When he came back to Brand after a couple of years, he became the singing ski instructor. Just like his dad he fell in love with a Dutch girl, packed his bag and guitar in 2009 and travelled to Friesland/The Netherlands.
In 2009 he won the Radio538 DemoDuel (biggest radio station in The Netherlands) with his song “Nobody”. On Queensday he performed LIVE on the Museumplein in Amsterdam in front of a massive 350.000 people audience and his song went ‘Alarmschijf’ and peaked high in the Dutch charts.
Thanks to Radio538, Falco met songwriter and producer Tony Cornelissen (Kane, Cascada, Di-rect). Tony: ‘Falco is a simpatico and social person who is apparently influenced and inspired by his travelling through all these beautiful cities, countries with all these beautiful cultures. He definitely is a young person with an old spirit. Visit one of his gigs, than you’ll know. It's a privilege to work with Falco’ Both decided to write, collect and build up repertoire.
Falco explained; ‘"Falco" = Latin for falcon and a falcon symbolizes 'freedom'… "Luneau" = French and means 'moon water'
Falco is recording his album with producers Harry Hess, Pontus Frisk and Tony Cornelissen.
