Versatile German producer Martin Books is the first guest on Simina Grigoriu’s Kuukou imprint, signing off its third release entitled “Too Many Doors”. The eponymous track sets about with a resolute bassline and timber stabbing percussion, subtly evolving into a strapping groove. An early 90s synth pop aficionado, Books aptly anchors on synth arrays that accent both tracks. While in the first instance, they take on a raw and relentless pattern, on “Classic Mind” we find them in the form of wandering synths and zig zagging bits creating a psychedelic vortex just before the drop. Alex Young & Deetech join forces on the remix, creating a spacier, deep house-reminiscing build up, angling on heavy percussion and cavernous sounds. All in all, a well rounded offering that bears tracks fit for any part of a set.
