Newly minted dark indie-folk quartet Copperhead releases their debutThere is a badass, Mo-town esque, sultry vibe to Liz Stevens’ vocals that completely captures you in this dark, smoky, mysterious euphoria of the past. In tracks like “Waiting” it’s almost as though Stevens’ is singing a duet with Kirill Telichev’s blues-driven guitar. Stevens’ vocal is insanely captivating, evocative, and comparable to the likes of Cat Power, PJ Harvey, or even Janis Joplin. The composition and songwriting is such a refreshing throwback to a better time. Like being dropped right in a ‘70s New York club with a glass of whiskey in your hand. There is such energy, drama, and passion engraved in each song, matched with perfect control and elegance to master this EP. This band makes you fall in love with music all over again. We needed this. We needed this right now.
