Miso records has always had a broad vision of music and has never limited itself to one style\u002Fgenre...so it is with great pleasure that we announce the release of the 1st single to be taken from the forthcoming Webster Wraight Ensemble album 'No Lucky Days'. 'The Ruins of Britain' is a richly melodic Harp-led beauty of a track...building from a harp and piano intro via flutes and woodwind to a full orchestral \u002F big band arrangement (by Charles's partner in this new project and long standing Matthew Herbert Big Band arranger, Peter Wraight) and it features the stellar vocals of Charles' long time collaborator Emilie Chick...and what a vocal it is !..beautiful, powerful and full of emotion and bite. The song is a rich, melodic and melancholic journey through post 20th century Britain lamenting what was and what could have been. Emilie's beautiful vocals sitting perfectly atop the pastoral (yet full of hidden danger) elegant music. The single was recorded in various studios around the world with some of the best players we could get our hands on ( full list of players in label credits) and produced and mixed by Charles on a vintage Neve mixer in the U.K. This lead track from the album (to be released worldwide in June 2013) is a taster of the many moods on the album which range from the very personal to the very political...this initial release will be followed shortly by a set of remixes by the one and only Pepe Bradock and Parisian jazz funk masters D**e Gems...and a beautiful video..say tuned.
