In space with SatchmoIt is the true spirit of a band that counts for Ingolf B 4. Their album Just B4 clearly profits from this excellent jazzbands collective breath whose leader more than anything else appears to be one of its members. Featuring Ingolf Burkhardt (trumpet, flugelhorn), Vladyslav Sendecki (piano, keyboards), Paul Imm (bass) & Ian Thomas (drums).Recommended tracks: 1. Theme from Star Trek/ 2. Back where I belong/ 3. Blue Spanish Eyes/ 5. Asso-KamLike something strange from planet Zawinul the opening Theme From Star Trek comes floating in, while Back Where I Belong shows the outfits easy courage and talent in the fragile art of the dynamic while subtle ballad. More brilliantly lissome interplay on Asso-Kam, one of Joe Samples most conclusive compositions in terms of melody, while Al Martinos Blue Spanish Eyes, is being pushed easily next to mid-seventies Miles with equanimous humor. Ingolf Burkhardt (trumpet, flugelhorn), worked for million selling dance orchestras like the one of James Last, for showbiz giant Al Martino, for pop acts like Kid Creole & The Coconuts, was sideman of Benny Golson, Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer and others. He is a steady member of Joe Gallardos project Latino Blue, Alan Skidmores Ubizo and since 1990 of the Hamburg based NDR Bigband.Vladyslav Sendecki (piano, keyboards), born in Warsaw/Poland had already travelled Europe playing Chopin before moving westwards in 1981. Later he worked as sideman for Joe Henderson, Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Michael Brecker before he became a member of the NDR Bigband. Paul Imm (bass), born 1956 in Lancaster, PA/USA, is living in Germany for about 12 years by now. He played with Dizzy Gillespie, Tom Harrell and in the regular live outfits of Lee Konitz and Laurent de Wilde. Ian Thomas (drums), born 1963 in Cardiff, Wales/UK, is one of the most sought-after London studio drummers, working for the Spice Girls, Paul McCartney, Elton John, the Pet Shop Boys, Tom Jones, etc.
