Bass-player Hershel Rosario, born in Curaçao and an active local and international performer, is considered one of the best known jazz musicians on the island. He has already played with other local artists on the two earlier editions of the Curacao Northsea Jazz Festival. As no other, he is capable of incorporating the characteristic rhythms of his island, and those of the region, in his jazz. To showcase his international side, Hershel has also invited special guest star and well-known Argentinian guitarist Luis Salinas, who Hershel and a group of local musicians has accompanied both in Venezuela and Costa Rica in recent years, to share the stage with him. A set-up that promises a memorable musical mélange of local and international tastes that the visitors to the third edition of the Curaçao North Sea Jazz festival will be sure to appreciate and enjoy to the fullest. TUMBA PA KEDA is a masterpiece composed and arranged by Hershel himself and lyrics by Mylene Marchena and Hershel. Lead vocalist on this recording is one of Curacao's most famous singers: Ced Ride and on background vocals upcoming talent Hershel's son Najee Rosario. Tumba is a music and dance style played on Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao and it can be considered the most original musical genre of the ABC islands. The origin of the tumba is in Africa although the music has developed since it was introduced on the island in the 17th century. The name Tumba comes from the Bantu culture in Congo. In this tune Hershel combines Tumba with elements of jazz and Afro Cuban rythms with Bata drums creating a new genre called TUMBAZZ.
