Over the years, I've come to regard Anne-Sophie Mutter as the female Itzhak Pearlman: sounds like a lot to live up to, but she does it for me. A great tag-line for this CD would be, Want to hear a Beautiful German woman play Beethoven to perfection? All kidding aside, her playing on this is so superb and emotional, to the point that she does bring us 'face to face' with Beethoven. The fact that this was an older recording and she was in her teens, is way beside the point-if it's not broke, don't fix it, I always say. In this 2CD set for the price of one, you get Anne-Sophie Mutter possessed with the passion of one of the greatest Violin concerto's ever written. Don't let this one not be in your classical music section of your CD rack. 5 STAR RATING!
