by Scott YanowOn this CD, Dusan Bogdanovic performs a full set of solo classical guitar. His pretty sound, subtle style, and impressive technique are very much in evidence. His set ranges from fully composed pieces (including the four-part Jazz Sonata) to a few free improvisations that have colorful sound explorations. But no matter what he plays, the volume level is low and the mood is mellow and laid-back. Bogdanovic makes playing the guitar look quite easy, although a bit more emotional variety would have been preferred. The last piece on this CD is taken from another album in the Ma label's catalog, a rather involved but complementary solo guitar number from Barry Wedgle.
