White doesn't aim for his music to be the aural equivalent of wallpaper; he threads fluid guitar lines of intelligent, wistful improvisation. The guitarist's not afraid to share the spotlight, letting a saucy sax solo season Midnight in Manhattan. Other standouts are the sunny San Diego, Kinda Sweet, a gentle reading of the Luther Vandross hit Don't Be a Fool, the urban-flavored Windy City, the ethereal My Prayer, and the languid title track.
