'Left in Places' was recorded throughout the summer and fall of 2009 in various studios, garages and friends houses. Engineered by bassist George Knuff, Taylor Jeffels, and new member Jordan Bennett the album is a result of experimentation, creative recording techniques and countless all nighters. Written over the past two years the songs range from the bands past to present and are centered around themes of self reflection and interactions with the outside world. The sounds are diverse and rich: from the melancholy 'Box and the Bee' written about the loss of a mother, the building energy in 'Eva,' to the pulsating beat of 'Great Bear' (a tribute to the Canadian Wilderness). Horns were provided by Jacob Uber in one session at the Garage. 41st and Home are:Thom Kolb: vocals, guitar, ukelele, keysGarth Covernton: drums, banjoGeorge Knuff: bassSejal Lal: violin, vocalsJordan Bennett: keys, vocalsAndrew Lee: trumpet*Cindy Leibel: cello and accordion on the albumMixed by Brodie SmithProduced by George KnuffReleases on Copperspine RecordsRecorded at the Art Institute of Burnaby by George Knuff, Taylor Jeffels and Jordan Bennett*except for 'Hopes On a Boy' (recorded and mixed by Tom Dobrzanski at Vertical Studios)Special thanks to Tony and the Coverntons.
