After the atrocious album produced by Jack White called The Party Ain't Over, I was in need for a refreshing breath of air with Wanda. Her album with Jack White would have been better if it weren't for Jack White. Some of the songs were great (like Thunder On The Mountain and Dust On The Bible.)This album did about 80% of the job. Here, Wanda returns to her country, blues, and rockabilly roots. Wanda is one of those artists who shouldn't change with the times. Jack White tried to do that. Justin Townes Earle took her back to where she is best; blues influenced music. This album could have done without the over compression and heavy limiting. The song selections were so much better than Rum and Coca Cola were on her previous album. Tore Down has to by my personal favorite.Heck, I was Wanda last year at a local music festival with her own band, and not Jack White. I was amazed at how much better she sounded with her own guys than with the Jack White group. The musicians here are outstanding, and remind me of that show I saw last year. I would suggest this album to any country music and blues fan. Jack White fans need not apply.
