Joan Sebastían has released compilations before (in addition to his many albums), but none of them have been as unique as 13 Celebrando el 13. While the great Mexican singer and songwriter has always been busy as a recording and touring artist, he has also been a prolific writer for other artists. This collection focuses on his own versions of those songs — most of which were hits. Prime examples include the three tunes he wrote for Vicente Fernández, La Derrota, Amores Malditos, and Un Millón de Primaveras, and his own version of Las Mujeres Olvidadas, penned for Alicia Villarreal, that offers a male perspective on the lyrics. The set also includes his version of Que Dios Bendiga, the album's first single released in November of 2012 (originally composed for Juan Puente Guerrero), and set closer Tu Sai Chi, sung in Italian, making for a truly unique Mexican pop entry. 13 Celebrando el 13 offers a new look at Sebastían not only as singer of his own songs, but as a songwriter of exceptional breadth and depth.
