This is a great record, and just what we all need right now. This current ‘folk revival’ can often feel like a race to the bottom with each new band putting out foot stomping carbon copies of the band that came before them, and in that climate this album is a breath of fresh air. Fun but heartfelt, catchy but intelligent, diverse while still cohesive, joyous without being pandering; Baywood have done us all a favor by creating something that doesn’t need to rely on a gimmick or a fad but instead rests solely on great songwriting.
