The Lovin' Spoonful burst on the music scene in the summer of '65 with Do You Believe in Magic, and over the next two years they were truly one of the magical bands of post-British Invasion era. But by November 1967 when their final studio album was released, much of that magic had dissipated. Blame it on the departure of founding member, the late Zal Yanovsky, on John Sebastian's ambition to go solo, or a misguided attempt to fit into a changing music scene following the Summer of Love. [It's worth noting that although Zal is not listed as a musician on this album and was officially out of the group at the time of its release, he was present during a lot of the sessions and appears in some of the new lineup group photos--including the 45 sleeve for She's Still a Mystery!]
